Club History
The South Shore Stingray Soccer Club began in 1997, with the formation of the Blue Angels - a team of local Plymouth girls who wanted to test their skills and challenge themselves in tournaments and indoor league play throughout the New England Region. Created by Richard Harrington, the Blue Angels immediately realized success and became a dominant team in the Plymouth County Region.
In approximately 2005, as a result of the growing popularity of the Blue Angels, Richard Harrington evolved the Angels into what is now the South Shore Stingray Soccer Club. Adding both a G12 and a G13 team to the then G15 Angels/Stingrays team, the club joined the Massachusetts Premier League (MAPLE) in 2005. Harrington's original Stingray team enjoyed great success within MAPLE, leap frogging many older more established clubs to garner a Division 1 MAPLE slot.
In 2007, Harrington turned the reins of the Club over to Michael Pieroni who brought with him a philosophy of club management geared to grow the Club from the younger ages up, while offering the very best training, coaching, facilities and family oriented atmosphere all the while maintaining an affordable price point so that any player interested in Club Soccer could participate.
In spring 2009, the South Shore Stingrays, previously a female dominant Club introduced their first boy's team coached by John Tocci. In the summer of 2009, the Stingrays also hired its first ever Director of Coaching, Plymouth native Jason Tassinari. Coach Tassinari brought with him to the Stingrays an unparalleled record of character, success and accomplishment encompassing both genders at all levels of soccer; college (Emerson Women's Head Coach, 2004-2007, Stonehill Men's Head Coach 1998-2001, Wheaton Women's Assistant Coach, 2003), high school (Carver High School Girls Varsity Coach, 2008-present), club (Crusaders United SC, 1999-2009 Girls and Boys U11-U19 Head Coach), and O.D.P. (1996-1997 Massachusetts B12/B13 State Team Coach). The fall of 2009 saw the Stingray family grow in two short years to over 12 teams, both boys and girls, as well the introduction of the "Lil' Rays" Program. The Lil' Rays Program is geared to player development for ages 5, 6, 7 and 8. The focus of the program is skill and confidence training through fun, structured drills and games to prepare these young individuals for the next phase of their soccer lives.
Remaining the most affordable Soccer Club Massachusetts' South Shore, the Stingrays remain dedicated to serving its players and their families so as to make their soccer experience an enjoyable, worthwhile and positive one.
