Where the Rays play:

Future Rays Developmental Program

The Future Rays program is a developmental soccer program for boys and girls ages 7, 8 and 9 who enjoy soccer, wish to improve their skill set, but aren't ready to play at the Massachusetts Premier League Level. Coached by our professional Stingray staff and assisted by several of our older Stingray players, the program affords the participants professional instruction as well as peer mentoring.

The Future Rays Program offers professional instruction on individual skills such as dribbling, ball control, shooting etc., as well as developing tactical field awareness and a sense of team play. Each training session will assist in building your child's self esteem through stimulating and dynamic game play together with positive encouragement. The emphasis is on basic soccer skill development and fun.

The Future Rays train twice a week (one training session and one league game at Jungle Plex). Players may participate at any level they like or their schedule allows -- once or twice a week.

All training session are held at the JunglePlex indoor sports facility.

The cost is $150 per session. There is the possibility of three sessions. Cost includes one Future Rays training shirt, professional instruction, all field training times and league play.

The three sessions will run at the same time as the three indoor soccer sessions at the Jungle Plex. Session 1 start dates for the 2011 winter season will be around the end of October or the beginning of November.

Ray has been coaching for over 30 years at all age levels from U6 through high school, college men and women and one year at the professional level. The former Men's Head Coach at the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth, he is currently the Women's Head Coach at the Mass Maritime Academy. Ray has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association Premier Diploma as well as the United States Soccer Federation "B" License. He also holds a Royal Dutch Futbol Association National (KNVB) Youth license.

As the former State Director of Player Development for the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association, Ray has studied player development from different countries around the world. He has developed an age appropriate curriculum that not only exposes players to proper soccer training forms but is also sequential so each session builds on the past sessions. Ray has stated, "It is no secret that we all learn quicker and retain what we learned longer when we are having fun. So, fun and praise are built into the program. Since children learn in different ways the program uses verbal, visual and kinetic training methods."
