Jason Tassinari - Director of Coaching
Jason "Taz" Tassinari brings to the Stingrays an unparalleled record of character, success and accomplishment encompassing both genders at all levels of soccer. His coaching background is both extensive and impressive as he has been a highly respected coach, clinician, referee, and administrator throughout the area.
CURRENTLY: Jason is the Director of Coaching for the South Shore Stingrays Soccer Club. He joined the club in June of 2009 after coaching for 10 years with the Crusaders United Soccer Club. He is also currently the full-time Athletic Director and Referee Coordinator at the JunglePlex Sports and Entertainment Complex, the Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at Carver High School, and a National Indoor Referee and Instructor for the United States Indoor Soccer Association. He currently holds coaching licenses with the NSCAA and USSF.
COLLEGE COACHING: Jason has enjoyed success coaching both Men and Women at the College level. At his alma mater Division 3 Bridgewater State as an Assistant Men's coach in 1995–the first college coaching job of his career–Jason helped guide the Bears to an overall record of 12-3-4. After Bridgewater State, Jason moved on Stonehill College in 1998 to become the Assistant Men's Coach. He got promoted to Head Coach the following year, becoming one of the youngest Division 2 Men's College Soccer Coaches in the country when he took the reigns at Stonehill in 1999. While at Stonehill from 1999-2001 he led the Chieftains from last place to 4th place in the very tough NE-10 Conference his first season, compiling 28 wins in 4 seasons with the program. After Stonehill, Jason spent one year at Division 3 Wheaton College as the Assistant Women's Coach in 2003. At Wheaton, he helped guide the Lyons to a 24-2-0 season, a NEWMAC Conference championship, and an "Elite 8" NCAA Division 3 national tournament appearance. Most recently, Jason coached at Division 3 Emerson College in Boston from 2004-2007 as the Head Women's Soccer Coach. At Emerson, Jason was named GNAC Conference "Coach of the Year" in 2004 and compiled an overall record of 45-18-9 in four seasons. He was also on the NSCAA New England Women's Division 3 Rankings Committee from 2005-2007. He also guided Emerson to the GNAC Conference Championship Game and their first ever ECAC Tournament appearance in 2007. While at Emerson College, Wheaton College, and Stonehill College, Tassinari coached 25 All-Conference players, 1 All-American, 3 Conference Rookies of the Year, and 4 Conference MVP's.
HIGH SCHOOL: When Jason left Emerson in 2008 to join the JunglePlex staff, he also moved on to Carver High School to coach the Girl's Varsity Soccer Program. In his first season at Carver, the Crusaders went 10-8-2 overall and qualified for the State Tournament.
CLUB SOCCER: Prior to the SS Stingrays, Jason spent 10 years with the Crusaders United Soccer Club. While with the Crusaders from 1999-2009, he coached both genders for a multitude of age levels ranging from U11-U19. He coached their Boys U11-U17 teams from 1999-2006, as well as their Girls U15-U19 teams in 2003, 2004, and 2006 through 2009. His boy's teams qualified for the State Cup Round-Robin Tournament in 2004, while his various girls' teams qualified four times. Both his 2008 U17 Girls team and his 2009 U18 Girls team played Division 1 in the MAPLE League. From 1990-1999, Jason had brief yet successful coaching stints with three other small local club soccer organizations (Plymouth Vipers from 1990-1994, KICS Soccer Club from 1995-1997, and the South Shore United Blazers from 1997-1999).
STATE / O.D.P. / BAY STATE GAMES: Jason coached the Massachusetts State ODP Boys 12 and 13 teams in 1997 and 1998. He was also the Head Coach for Boys and Girls Scholastic u18 Soccer Teams at the Bay State Games (2001-2006) leading the Boys team to a gold medal in 2001 and the coveted Sportsmanship Award in 2005. He also won a gold medal with the Bay State Games Boys team in 1995 as an assistant coach. He was also the District 1 Under 16 Girl's Soccer Team from 1993-1995.
PLAYING CAREER: Jason graduated from Plymouth North High School in 1991 and Bridgewater State College in 1995. Jason captained his high school team in 1991 as well as his college team in 1994. He was selected to the MASCAC All-Conference 1st team his senior season at Bridgewater State as a defender and led the Bears to the Conference Championship and an ECAC tournament bid the same year. In his 4 year career at Bridgewater State, the program compiled an overall record of 41-30-3, winning the MASCAC conference championship in 1994 and qualifying for the ECAC tournament in 1993 and 1994. Growing up, Jason played youth soccer for the Plymouth Youth Soccer Association as well as club soccer for one of the first club teams in the area, the South Shore Raiders.
YOUTH SOCCER: In the early 1990's Jason started his coaching career working for both Plymouth Youth Soccer and Carver Youth Soccer. He served as Carver Youth Soccer's Referee Coordinator in 1991 and coached in the program from 1991-1993. A Plymouth native, Jason actively supports and runs fall youth clinics for the Plymouth Youth Soccer Association, an organization he is a proud product of (he was a starting defender for the 1989 Plymouth Youth Soccer Boys Under 16 State Championship Team coached by Tom Foley, Russ Govoni and Bill Brady).
ADMINISTRATION: Jason was a manager at the Plymouth Sports Dome (current site of the JunglePlex), as well as the John Smith Soccer Centers in Bridgewater and in Milford, and ProShots in Pembroke. He co-directed and co-owned his own soccer camp (First Choice Soccer Camp) in Fairhaven, MA from 2001-2005, as well as the Stonehill College Men's Soccer Camp in 2000. In 2008, he was the Director of the Cranberry Cup Soccer Tournament hosted by Crusaders United.
REFEREE: Jason serves the United States Indoor Soccer Association as a Nationally Certified Referee and Regional Instructor. He began his career as an indoor soccer referee in 1994 at the Bridgewater Sports Dome and has officiated in 6 different indoor facilities in the country since that time. He was an outdoor referee in Plymouth from 1988-1992.
PERSONAL: Jason currently resides in North Plymouth, MA with his wife Andrea who is the Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Brockton High School.
